ACTIVITIES

Currently we are offering 26 activities! So enjoy at least a two night stay and have an experience of a life time! Please note that some activities require a minimum & maximum number of participants. If the minimum number is not reached the full price will have to be split among the participants. All activities are conducted under strict Instructor to Participant- ratios.

ABORIGINAL CULTURE:

You can take home your own personal Boomerang painted by yourself under the direction of the Bana Wu- Aboriginal Dance Group. They will also dance for you in full costume with Didgeridoo players. For children wanting to personally interact with the aboriginal people and take away a momento, this is as ideal cross-cultural experience for Aussie or International children and/or adults Min 20 Pax.

ABSEILING:

Half day activity. Min 2 Pax - Scale down the cliff face at the side of the waterfall, with our expert instructors, this is a fantastic learning experience with a great adventure element. Mungalli is one of very few places in North Queensland that offers this activity, and without a doubt, this is likely to be the most spectacular set-up location for it. For the really adventurous, we also offer the same experience in the actual waterfall!

ARCHERY:

2 hour activity. Min 10 Pax. - Either indoor or outdoor, (dependant on the weather) practice shooting at targets and listen as our instructors challenge you to hit the bullseye! A very popular activity.

AUSSIE BUSH DANCE:

An evening activity, learn Bush-dancing with local children. This would be either a Disc Jockey or full band on the night. Local performers & the band will also provide background music during dinner prior to the dance. Min 20 pax.

BANANA FACTORY VISIT:
 
Guests can visit the banana-processing factory at one time for a hands on experience. Ten people at one time can work on the sorting of bananas, five each side with a Wadda Plantation staff member working with them. They will work on sorting the bananas for packing. Have a chance to view any visitors that have arrived at the factory on a banana bunch, such as a possum or frogs! They can also look at a double banana. Rubber boots, rubber aprons and gloves for guests to wear while working sorting the bananas are available. Yellow vests for guests to wear are available. This activity is available Monday through Thursday all days except Queensland public holidays and from 8.00 to 16.00 hours. Min 5 pax MAX 20 pax

BOOMERANG THROWING:

1hr activity. Min 10 Pax. - Learn the ancient aboriginal art of boomerang throwing, great fun, and get lots of exercise chasing your boomerang if it doesn't come back!

BUSHWALK & ENVIRO STUDY:

Half Day activity. Learn about the Flora and Fauna of the North Qld National Parks and swim under a waterfall. The walk takes approximately 2 hours round trip. Half way along, there is a spectacular water hole and waterfall for swimming. (swimming is of course optional) This is noted as the oldest rainforest area in the world. Learn from our staff about the ancient plant and wildlife. Min 10 Pax.

CAMPFIRE:

We set the campfire, you conduct activities. Or you can add a guitar playing singer and sing songs around a campfire with him! Min 10 Pax & MAX 20 Pax

CANOEING:

Head for a half day canoeing adventure on the Mighty Lake Tinaroo! This huge expansive lakes offers participants to take in a variety of flora & fauna, not to mention the exercise you get! The scenery is breath-taking, and our instructors can tailor this so it can be anything from a leisurely float across the various inlets, or a Regatta!

COOKING WITH BANANAS:
 
Guests will be given cooking classes in the Teahouse. The group will be divided into 2 or 3 sections with each section cooking a different banana recipe. Once the banana food is cooked everyone will be able to eat some. A digital photo of guests cooking will be available and can be sent to Japan. Different varieties of bananas will be available for tasting. A copy of the recipe will be available (in Japanese or other language if required). Tasting of banana wine and other tropical fruit wine with food is available for all guests over 20 years old. A 2.5-3 hour activity Min 10 pax - MAX 30 pax

DUCK AROUND DOG SHOW:

Watch Mist Blue working Kelpies herding ducks. Watch a real Australian Kelpie-Dog herding- ducks as a simulation of what would happen when these same dogs herd cattle or sheep!
2hr activity. Min 10 Pax.

FARM EXPERIENCE

2.5hrs activity. This is a wonderful experience for children from the city and can be incorporated with the Duck Around Dog Show". Actually milk a cow, feed baby calves, pigs and goats, geese and chickens, There is also guinea pigs to cuddle as well as a miniature horse! Min 5 Pax.

GLOW WORM TOURS AND NIGHTWALK:

Visit the mystical bottom of Mungalli Falls. There you will stand on a man made deck in the river and listen and watch the dramatic waterfall as well as the hundreds of glow worms and also glow fungi. Night-time activity only. Min 5 pax

HORSERIDING:

2 1/2 hour activity. There is an option for shorter Horse Ride if requested. Arguably one of the most spectacular locations for Horse-riding in Australia. Ride along the highlands ridge, through the ?Misty Mountains" and finally arrive at a stream where the horses can have a drink. Stop at Echo Point for a break and experience one of the best views in Far North Queensland (There is an option for shorter Horse Ride if requested & lead pony rides are also conducted on request, for our younger visitors) Min 2 Pax

LANDSLIDING:

Hillside Tobogganing. A 1-2hr activity. This is awesome fun sliding down a hill on a toboggan and landing in a waterhole at the bottom. You can have as many turns as you wish as long as you have the energy! It is also a great photo opportunity! Min 10 Pax.

LOW & HIGH ROPES COURSE

A 2 hour activity testing participants balance and skill. This is a great activity in the test of trust as well! Suitable for all ages! Min 20 pax

OBSTACLE COURSE

A commando course designed on army style, fun and challenging. This can be tailored in many ways for the needs of your group. We can involve an English Speaking" challenge, or tailor it more physically for the level of fitness of your participants. It is most popular with school groups, and we keep a record of all the fastest times for each school group across the world that visits us, with the current record for team time trial being held by a local North Queensland school!! We challenge you to beat it! Min 5 Pax.

GET HOOKED:

Tarzali Lakes" is a fully operational Aquaculture Farm with over 80,000 fish on 40 acres with seven large ponds. You?re guaranteed to catch a fish. A 1, 2 or 3hr activity where you are also guaranteed to see a platypus in the wild!. Min 10 Pax.

ORIENTEERING:

A 2 hour activity which requires the participants to work as a group and learn to use a compass and follow their way around a pre-designed course. This can be integrated with the Treasure Hunt" activity to add a different element to both. Min 10 Pax.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY:

Your team is given a photo of a local scene. The photo will be taken in a specific location, with specific items in it. It may even have other people in it! Study the photo for 10 mins. Then you have 1 hour to recreate exactly what you saw in the photo, in exactly the same location that the photo was taken (if you can find the spot!) This is a brilliant activity for all kinds of groups, and encourages team-work. Finally, once your hour is up, take the photo of what you have created, and see how close it resembles the original photo! Best match is the winner!! Min 5 pax

RIVER KAYAKING:

A full 5 hour activity. Min 15 Pax. Suitable all ages. Great fun on the famous North Johnstone River. i.e Dependent on the water levels, this activity location may alter.

ROCK CLIMBING:

Our newest activity, we offer the only fully equipped outdoor natural location for beginners through to experienced climbers, to try their hand at a fast growing sport. Min 2 pax

SCHOOL EXCHANGE VISIT:

This is a full or half day activity where the children get to interact with Aussie local students. Allow Mungalli Falls to organise this for you with our local connections on the Tablelands region. Min 10 Pax and MAX numbers also apply, depending on the availability of schools at time of visit.

TEAM RAFT BUILDING:

A 1-2 hour activity where participants are required to build a raft, then race each other across a dam - an exercise in listening, this activity can be easily tailored to suite the focus of the group and can be made more or less competitive and more or less educational dependant on your needs Min 10 Pax.

TREE-PLANTING PROGRAM:

Tree Planting allows students to become one with nature. Mungalli Falls Guides inform students where and how to plant the tree and ensure that the trees are well looked after in the students absence. Ratio of one tree per 20 students applies. Students returning to Mungalli Falls for future visits will be able to observe the growth of their Rainforest Tree. A school or group as a whole can assist in the planting of one tree which will display a Large Plaque showing School Name and the Year they visited Mungalli Falls. The school will receive Photo of Tree to take home, and regular updates on the Tree's growth will be forwarded to the school. Min 20 pax

TREASURE HUNT:

Start with a map, break in to teams, and race to be the first to find the treasure! Participants will be required to engage staff in conversations to receive clues to get to the next check point, where further clues and challenges await in order for you to find the treasure! This is an excellent activity for foreign language students, however, we tailor it according to the needs of the group goals. Min 5 pax

TUBING GOLD PANNING & ROCK HOPPING:

Half Day activity. Students walk deep in to the valley to the river, where they will jump from rock to rock, to find the best gold-panning location, then our guide will show students how to ?pan for Gold,- explaining the history of the region in relation to gold prospecting and mining. This is a fun, outdoor activity, but with an historical education component. Min 10 Pax.

Indoor Activities

Mungalli Falls now offers a wide range of indoor activities, that can either be booked as a stand alone, or as a back up for wet-weather. They include:

Jewellery Making! Watch and learn as the staff teach you how to make your very own necklace or bracelet that you may keep as a souvenir or take home as a gift for a friend!

Board games - a range of board games are available. Ask for your favourite game, a small deposit is required and there is no charge for this service

Spelling Bee - Allow our staff to put together a spelling competition. This difficulty is adjusted, depending on the level and nationality of the students.

Aboriginal Art - Learn the ancient art with our qualified staff, or request an aboriginal (additional fees for this) visit and demonstrate!

Table-Tennis - feel free to use the table, or allow our staff to organize a tournament - (fee applies for this) It could be an interschool, or even international tournament!

Cooking Classes - conducted at Wadda Banana Plantation, enjoy a banana smoothie and also learn some special dishes with bananas (pre-bookings only - maximum 30 pax)

Trivia competition! - Our staff will put together a competition with questions designed to make you think about the natural flora and fauna and the history of Mungalli Falls!

CAMP-N-CAVE:

From 1 to 4 nights at Chillagoe, heaps of activities. Itinerary arranged to suit individual groups.

CROCODILE FARM:

2hr activity. Min 15 Pax.

FRANKLAND ISLAND:

A full day to the Outer Reef, snorkel, semi-sub, glass bottom boat, guided walks, lunch and snorkelling equipment included. Min 10 Pax.

STEAM TRAIN & CRYSTAL CAVES:

A full day activity, ride the train to Tomoulin the highest town in Queensland., lunch and relax. Min 10 Pax.

TABLELANDS TOUR:

A full day tour of the Tablelands. Cruise on Lake Barrine, an extinct volcanic crater lake, picnic on Lake Eacham and swim. Curtain Fig Tree and shopping in Yungaburra. Min of 10 Pax.

WATERFALLS TOUR:

Half day activity, tour of local waterfalls/Swim. Min 10 Pax.

SKII-MEE (NEW!!):

Half day or full day activity. Tube ride, shi, wakeboard and knee board your day away on the fresh blye waters of Lake Tinaroo. With the wind in your hair and the water speeding under foot, an exciting time will be had by all. Operating since 2000 Skii-Mee has the experience for a safe but enjoyable time for all.
